Engaging Content – You GOTTA Have It
I have more than ten years of experience as a web developer and SEO consultant.
Over that time I’ve witnessed a tremendous amount of change in the way websites are designed, developed and marketed.
One thing is absolutely CERTAIN – the internet moves at a break-neck pace! If your site is not keeping up with the latest technologies, it will quickly become a ghost town.
The challenge with online marketing today is that online communication casts a ridiculously wide net. While many internet users are tech-savvy, mobile consumers, there are still millions out there with varying degrees of computer literacy.
And while many are surfing the web via smart phones, tablets, and even television, there are still a large number of folks plunking their way around the “interwebs” on an old desktop through a dial-up connection.
And perhaps the greatest challenge is not HOW they’re viewing your site, but the demographics they bring to the table. It seems that EVERYONE is connected these days. So there will be a wide range of age groups, races, religious background, and socio-economic status searching for information.
WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN TO YOU?
If a user (ANY user, from ANY background) has to pause in order to think about how to use your website, then they’ll move on to another one.
The user experience should should be effortless and ENGAGING!
Your site absolutely MUST be engaging to new visitors! If you’re wondering whether your site is engaging enough, ask yourself the following questions:
- Is your site easy to navigate? Can users easily find the info they’re looking for?
- Are your visitors encouraged to take action? Have you given them a reason to?
- Will your visitors keep coming back for more information? Will they be loyal?
In order to truly answer those questions, you simply MUST take a look at your content!
- Do you update your site’s content regularly?
- Does your content provide REAL value to potential customers?
- Is there anything about your site that encourages visitors to return?
This may seem overwhelming, but it really is pretty simple. Provide value for your customers. If you don’t your competitors will!
